"Dear Phillip,

My name is Dipti Chatterjee and I am in the eleventh grade. In school this week we learned about taxes. Do the frog and penguin pay taxes? We learned that there are some pretty bad consequences for not paying taxes."


Thanks for writing, Dipti! You are correct in noting that failure to properly file income taxes can have negative consequences. Sometimes the IRS can come up with some pretty heinous charges, and then use those charges to strike a plea bargain that we might not agree with, but we also don't want the government to repossess our motorcycle.
